Latin names are some of the most beautiful in the world. You would think, then, that there would be a lot of TV shows and movies with Latin names. But you’d be wrong! In this post we will share 5 Netflix Shows on Latin Names You Won’t Want to Miss so that you can finally get your fill of these lovely words.
The 5 Shows:
Narcos. The name of this show is a mix between two Spanish words, “narco” which means drug and “pólice,” the word for police officer or detective in Latin America. This show tells the true story of Pablo Escobar, one of Colombia’s most notorious drug lords. It also follows DEA agent Steve Murphy who was sent to Columbia on assignment to take down him and his cartel. (This isn’t a documentary about drugs).
El Chapo. If you like crime dramas then you’re going to want to watch this series if only because it has an awesome title! And while there are many other shows with ‘El’ in its titles, this just might be the best one. El Chapo is a show about Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who at his peak was arguably the most powerful drug lord in the world.
Narcos: Mexico. This Netflix series will be set primarily on Mexican soil and tells of corrupt cops and DEA agents with all sorts of nefarious allegiances that are only too happy to protect their own interests–whatever they may be–at any cost as it pertains to drugs.
Ingobernable (Unstoppable). Anyone who’s read The House Of Spirits by Isabel Allende knows how beautifully she writes, so you’ll want to watch this series if for no other reason than because it has her name right there in its title.
Narcos: Colombia. This one’s all about drug lord Pablo Escobar and the CIA officer who has to fight him with his own unorthodox methods, because if he doesn’t someone else will–and they’ll probably do a worse job of it than he does.
Quicksand (Tiempo de Valientes). As you can see from its title, this show is set in Venezuela during Hugo Chavez’s presidency when poverty had reached epidemic proportions and people were struggling just to get by on their measly wages while crime was steadily increasing.
